Hi, my name is Danny Ybarra.  Planetspeak is a name I give to world percussion.  It is as close to a universal language as I can find. No matter what culture or what continent or what era, percussion is part of the musical lanscape. (Remember: piano is a percussion instrument). It connects with everyone. Everyone seems to have a little percussionist inside. Each time I play, people examine these odd instruments and ask “Can I try it?”. They break down the barrier between musician and listener.

“So many grooves, so little time.” I have been exploring the percussion landscape for over 20 years and only scratched the surface. Just following the simple tambourine and its may variations is a voyage in itself. from any study, I come away with a new perspective into each culture that is rather unique.

 So, enjoy your stay, listen a little or write a little. Come talk a little “planetspeak”.
